Place Finishes
In The MMRA Touring Series
|
2-12-08 Draven and his family
headed out after school and work, Florida bound to participate
in the MMRA Speedweeks at Bronson
Motor Speedway in Bronson, Florida. They made a stop in
Adel, Georgia in order to get some rest and then head out again.
2-13-08 Draven and his family-get
up, leave Adel and head out. They arrive at Bronson Motor Speedway
and start getting the car ready for practice. The car passes
tech and is ready to go. Draven had not raced a Minicup car
since November 2006, but went out and did a great job during
all the practice sessions for the day.
2-14-08 Draven and his family
arrive at the track and get the needed work done on the car.
Practice begins and Draven has a great practice session. Draven
goes out to qualify and gets the 3rd place starting position
for the heat race. Draven races the heat race and maintains
his 3rd place position for the start of the feature race. Draven
races a good, clean race and comes out with a 3rd place finish.
Way to go Draven! Your family is very proud of you.
2-15-08 Draven and his family
arrive at the track and get ready to go out for practice. Draven
realizes his brakes are going out, so after one round of practice-the
work on the brakes begins. Draven misses practice and qualifying,
due to his brake failure. The crew finally get the brakes working,
but have no time to work on the setup. Draven gets to run the
heat race and places towards the back. Draven goes into the
feature race and somehow pulls off a 3rd place finish. What
a challenging day, but everyone did their job and got a good
finish. Congratulations Draven!
* We would like to thank
MMRA for providing all the racers and their supporters with
a cookout Friday night after the races. The food was great and
we appreciate the family friendly environment that MMRA provides
us with.
2-16-08 Draven and his family
arrive at the track, get everything ready to go and the day
begins. The crew chief finally gets the brakes working at 100
%. Draven completes practice and goes to qualify. The set up
is still not where it needs to be-and he gets 4th place to start
the heat races. Draven goes to the feature race and gets involved
in 3 seperate cautions which under the MMRA rules gets him the
black flag. That gave us a 9th place finish for the feature
race.
*Draven
would like to thank Pete Neimeier, Vic Johnson, Marty Dunn and
all the MMRA staff for putting on this event. Everything ran
smoothly and to the posted schedule. After competing at Orlando's
Speedweeks in 2006, this event was a welcomed relief. A big
thank you also goes out to the management and staff at Bronson
Motor Speedway for hosting the event.

Draven
Finishes 5th At Tri-County Motor Speedway
|
3-18-08
Draven and his family headed to participate in the Race Dog
50 at Tri-County Speedway in Hudson, North Carolina. It was
an extremely cold day and the weather dished out everything
from rain, sleet, snow to 20-30 m.p.h. winds. Only 2 Future
Stars Racers showed up for the event and it was decided that
they would race with the Open Division. On the 1st round of
practice, Draven got in two laps, when the fuel lines to the
carburator cracked from the cold. By the time the pit crew could
get the lines switched out, both practices were over, and the
track went straight into qualifying. Draven qualified towards
the back of the line up, and then it was time to race. Because
of no track time, the pit crew did not realize that the lack
of fuel to the carburator had caused the spark plug to foul.
During the 50 lap race the car kept cutting in and out. Draven
would go towards the front, the car would cut out and one could
watch everyone just pass him by, but Draven hung in there and
ended up with a 5th place finish. Draven's parents were very
proud of him. He showed perserverance in a hard situation, he
drove a good clean race, and he managed to avoid the numerous
wrecks that took place in the race. Great Job Draven!

4-12-08
Draven decided that instead of running a complete schedule with
the MMRA Future Stars, he would instead run with the South East
Super Mini Cup Series. This is an Open division, so there will
be a few races that he will not be old enough to participate
in, but he plans on competing in as many of their races as possible.
He participated in the Franklin County Speedway Race in Virginia
and finished 5th. You can check out the news and race information
for this series at http://www.southeastsuperminicups.com/

Franklin County Speedway Race-Rainout

5-2-08
Draven
finished up his school day and then headed out to Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina to compete at Myrtle Beach Speedway in the South
East Super Minicup Series Race. Draven and his family arrived
late Friday night, headed to bed so that they could get up early
and be at the track around 7:30 a.m. the next morning.
5-2-08
Draven
arrives at Myrtle Beach Speedway, gets signed in and after a
few tweaks on the car hits the track for practice. Draven does
well at practice-this is his first time at this track and he
quickly learns the track and works on getting faster. From practice,
the racers begin qualifying. Draven qualifies in the 4th position.
The competitors then get a few hours for a break, so Draven
heads back to the hotel for a quick shower. The Harrison family
venture out for dinner at the Crab House and then head to Myrtle
Beach so that Draven can get wet, cool off and relax for a few
minutes. They then head back to the track to work on the car
and get ready for the nights race. The minicup race begins at
around 9:00 p.m. and Draven takes the lead and gains a very
good lead. Draven holds the lead for 17 laps when he realizes
that something feels different with the engine. He falls back
to 3rd place and is able to hang there until about lap 32. The
car then begins to fall even further off and Draven lets his
Crew Chief know that something is very wrong. The car is struggling
and has to be brought off the track. The header had broken on
the engine, fell down into the tire and rubbed the tire which
caused it to go flat. Lady luck was just not on Draven's side
that night, but he knows that it won't be long before he will
get a top 3 and hopes for a win by the end of this season.

Draven With Three Of His Biggest Fans
Walt Green, Bobby Edwards, & Bobby Anderson
|
5-17-08
Draven headed to the Motormile Speedway in Virginia to compete
with the Southeast Super MiniCups. Draven had a great day of
practice and his crew chief kept improving on the car. Draven
was very excited to have Walt Green, Bobby , & Bobby Anderson
come out to watch him race that evening and hoped for a good
finish. The race started and during the 1st lap of the race,
a wreck in front of Draven, left him with no where to go. He
ended up involved with another car that left his toe knocked
out and his left rear tire slowly going down. Draven managed
to struggle through the race and finished 5th despite his bad
luck.
5-24-08 Draven and his family made the long haul to the Franklin
County Speedway in Virginia. The best lap in the second practice
was his qualifying time and he qualified 7th. The Super MiniCups
took the field and the race began and it was a great race. Draven
raced a good clean race during which he showed just how much
he is maturing as a driver. The competion with the Southeast
group is second to none, and Draven feels very fortunate to
be a part of such a talented group. Draven finished 5th and
did an excellent job driving.

Draven Places 3rd In Kilkare Speedway's Double Feature |
8-15-08 Draven and his family head to Kilkare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio
to let Draven compete in a Double Feature presented by the I.K.O. Division
8-16-08 It was a great day of hard racing and Draven would like to give a shout out to Steve Smith and everyone envolved in the I.K.O. Series for their gracious hospitality. They went out of there way to let those of us who traveled 7-10 hours, know how much they appreciated having us there. The racers were given more practice at this event than almost any event we have been to. It was good, hard racing with lots of trophies and prizes for all participants, as well as great food and a live band at the end of the day.
